I am Alejandro A. Garcia, P.E., and a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas with a current registration. I am a graduate of Texas A&I University of Kingsville, Texas (now known as Texas A&M at Kingsville) and have over 44 years experience as an Engineer.
I am also a Veteran having served in the US Army Reserves from 1958 to 1962 and served active duty during Vietnam Era in the US Air Force 1962 to 1966. I retired from the US Army Corps of Engineers and a few years back, I retired from the City of Del Rio from the position of City Engineer and Public Works Director. It was my pleasure to have served with the City under the direction of three different Mayors. I have much experience in the public arena and am a Director with the Border Federal Credit Union and Chairman of the Val Verde Appraisal District Appeals Review Board.
High on my agenda for legislative affairs are 1. Creation of a Groundwater Conservation District 2. Working with legislators for a 4-lane Highway from Del Rio to Uvalde, 3. Re-establishment of an SS Office in Del Rio and 4. Other matters affecting our City and Region. I will strive to serve all in this capacity as Vice Chair in this important position. My wife is Yolanda D. Garcia and we have three sons, two living in Atlanta, Ga and another in Troy, Alabama. God bless the USA and Del RIo, Texas
