At the June Membership Meeting, two new members joined the Hispanic Chamber. The membership welcomed Joel Langton, individual and United San Felipe. The USF (United San Felipe) is a non-profit organization working on a project to celebrate the Barrio of San Felipe and the contributions that its inhabitants have made to our country through their achievements. San Felipe is located in the historical part of Del Rio where this community began. The organization is working on an ‘Arch of Pride’, which will span across Cantu St. on Brown Plaza’s northwest corner. “What began as a dream is becoming a reality as friends and former residents of our barrio are becoming part of this unique and deserving project”, said Raul G. Padilla, project architect. USF is in the process of sending Corporate Sponsorship Packets across Texas and across the country informing former Del Rio business people of the project and asking for their participation, United San Felipe has already raised $20,000.00 but still needs the strong support of the community to reach their goal.
On June 27th the Del Rio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce held its membership meeting. It was hosted by Silver Eagle Distributors. Vice president Mr. Ayala presented our guest speaker Mayor Bruno Lozano.
