The April 6, 2017 membership meeting of the Del Rio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce was hosted by the City of Del Rio at the Del Rio Airport. Oriana Fernandez, Economic Development Director for the City of Del Rio partnered with Juan Carlos Onofre, Airport Manager, to inform those in attendance of the sequence of events undergone to finally re-establishing passenger air service to the community and the surrounding area.
The work and assistance given to this community by Representative Will Hurd in reaching this milestone was acknowledged, as well as was the work and perseverance of elected officials and staff who understand the importance that this service has to any community. The ability to expeditiously connect with the world physically as well as electronically is vital to any economy large and small. Information was provided on outgoing and incoming flight schedules and price of one way and roundtrip tickets. We hope that the citizenry will avail themselves of this service, as the more successful it becomes the better chance we will have of enhancing the service. The thirty people in attendance in the baggage area of the airport were treated to a variety of finger foods and cold drinks. Ms. Fernandez also shared, with each attendee, a spacious tote bag containing various promotional items. Door prices were provided by Raquenel Suday of Wright’s on the Lake Steak House who donated two $25.00 gift certificates.
