Acuña Vive.. Acuña en Movimiento is the name and theme of Acuña’s new tourism initiative. Speaking on behalf of Acuña Mayor Lenin Pérez Rivera , called away by the Governor of Coahuila, Acuña Chamber of Commerce President Lino Gerardo Gonzalez Calvillo explained the importance of the campaign’s success to the economies on both sides of the border.
Lino noted that in working with the Chambers of Commerce to promote tourism, we are in a new stage in the relationship between the sister cities. Lino stated that no longer does the Rio Grande divide us; the Rio Grande now unites us in a social, cultural, economic, and familiar manner. He stated that we must work together to strengthen these bonds. Lino added that Acuña’s population of 150,000 means potential clients to buy locally, purchase businesses or properties on the Del Rio side of the border. Del Rio also has the opportunity to buy quality products, medical services, prescriptions, healthcare, entertainment and more in Acuña. Lino said they recognize that México, including Acuña have been through a difficult time in safety and security. Many businesses closed. Acuña is now experiencing better times with public safety and security as a highest priority. Steps have been taken to promote safety of the citizens and tourists. Economic Development Director Luis Saldaña Hernández presented a powerpoint describing the new tourist initiative with scheduled entertainment in a family friendly environment, reopening of businesses, methods to increase and promote security with a revamping of the municipal police force, and the need to address any and all security concerns with the Acuña Chamber. They encourage you to call Director of Tourism Lic. Jesus Suday 830-765-6723 for any problems you encounter while in Acuña or for any questions/concerns you may have.
