november membership meeting

Val Verde Regional Medical Center was host to the November Membership meeting of the Del Rio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, November 9th at 7:00 PM.  Director of Health Issues Elaine Trevino welcomed the members accompanied by Angela Prather and Xochil Hurtado, the hospital’s CEO. 
Those in attendance weathered the cold to go and listen to the very interesting and informative presentation by the hospital’s new surgeon, Doctor Olutayo Sogunro.  Doctor Sogunro spoke on breast cancer detection and colon cancer.  Doctor Sogunro’s presentation was enthusiastically received by the Membership and guests, with many of those in attendance lining up after the presentation to ask personal questions.  The group also visited with Cecilia Lozano on eligibility criteria for colon health services.  CEO Xochil Hurtado spoke of the staffs efforts to improve all services that the hospital offers in their quest to achieve excellence in patient care. 
After the business session, the president of the Del Rio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Otila Gonzalez welcomed Buford Marketing as newly joined member of the chamber.  Attendees then enjoyed a spread of shrimp, bacon wraps, sandwiches, fruit, and sweets. Val Verde Regional Medical Center continues to be a gracious and generous host that we at the DRHCC appreciate very much.
