Committed to Serve.
Ms. Vicky Barnthouse underlying theme at the September DRHCC membership meeting served to reassure everyone that her focus has been and will continue to be, VVRMC’s priority of providing the highest quality healthcare in the area. Utilizing Quint Studer’s Five Pillars concept of Quality, Finance, Growth, People, and Service, Ms. Barnthouse explained how exceptional healthcare goals are achievable. For instance, there are various methods used to measure and quantify quality.
First and most important to patients, is that since her time with VVRMC there has been no ventilator associated pneumonia cases, no central line infections and no surgical site infections for colon surgeries or hysterectomies and no hospital acquired pressure ulcers. These are top in class performance for any hospital in the country. Also, the renovated private rooms have improved personalized care, and provided for a more comfortable stay. In the last five years patient satisfaction have dramatically increased which is proven by feedback patients provided through surveys.
Follow up calls to discharged patients provide good feedback. Managing finances is just as important to both patients and to over 400 employees of VVRMC. Ms. Barnthouse showed how a positive cash balance has grown over the past few years. Positive cash flow has allowed VVRMC to grow and make significant investments. There are now new beds throughout the hospital, digitial mammography, many facility upgrades and a variety of specialty doctors located at Amistad Medical Professionals.
Surgical procedures are available from pediatrics to geriatrics. Employee engagement (the people who work at VVRMC) is also at a high level. According to an employee survey, more than 90% of employees feel that they are proud to be working at VVRMC and gladly tell people about it. Community Service through involved corporate social responsibility is also important to the new CEO Vicky Barnthouse. She noted VVRMC is the Top Pace setter for the United Way and also for Relay for Life. VVRMC employees also volunteer hundreds of hours in support of various community projects and events. Ms. Barnthouse wants you to trust your healthcare to VVRMC.
